The HEAL Project is partnering with Life Lab to offer a workshop on our farm for garden-based educators or those interested in incorporating garden-based education into their program or curriculum.
Learn to use a garden to breathe life into standards-based lessons, promote ecological literacy, encourage healthy eating, and support students' social development. Using Life Lab's Growing Classroom activity guide for grades 2-6, participants in this hands-on workshop experience tried-and-true garden-based lessons linked to Common Core Language Arts and Math and Next Generation Science Standards; practice basic gardening techniques; and develop management strategies for a school garden program.
Copies of the accompanying text: The Growing Classroom will be available for purchase of $39.95 plus tax.
Graduate Continuing Education credit available.
Cost: $50.00 per person($100.00 discount off workshop), includes a light lunch
This workshop is provided by Life Lab, a 501(c)3 nonprofit located on the UC Santa Cruz farm. Life Lab teaches people to care for themselves, each other, and the world through farm- and garden-based programs.
